The vulnerability exists because `WPRM_Metadata::sanitize_metadata()` recursively calls `do_shortcode()` on every scalar field of the recipe's structured metadata array — including the `reviewBody` field, which is populated verbatim from the `comment_content` of approved `wprm-comment-rating` comments — without sanitizing or stripping shortcode tokens before execution; the subsequent `wp_strip_all_tags()` and `strip_shortcodes()` calls operate only on the output string after execution has already fully occurred, providing no protection against server-side shortcode invocation. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary registered WordPress shortcodes server-side on every recipe page render, causing shortcode output — such as attachment captions, private post fields, or other data exposed by installed shortcodes — to be embedded in the page's JSON-LD `reviewBody` metadata and disclosed to all visitors who load the recipe page. Successful exploitation requires the attacker's rated comment to pass the site's comment approval threshold, either via auto-approval or moderator action, before the injected shortcode begins executing on page loads.",null,[11],{"_key":12,"id":12,"name":13,"description":14,"type":15,"status":16,"abstraction":17,"likelihood_of_exploit":18,"capec":19},"CWE-94","Improper Control of Generation of Code ('Code Injection')","The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment.","weakness","Draft","Base","Medium",[20,24,58],{"id":21,"name":22,"techniques":23},"CAPEC-242","Code Injection",[],{"id":25,"name":26,"techniques":27},"CAPEC-35","Leverage Executable Code in Non-Executable Files",[28,39,46],{"id":29,"name":30,"tactics":31,"countermeasures":38},"T1027.006","HTML Smuggling",[32,35],{"id":33,"name":34},"TA0030","Defense Evasion",{"id":36,"name":37},"TA0005","Stealth",[],{"id":40,"name":41,"tactics":42,"countermeasures":45},"T1027.009","Embedded Payloads",[43,44],{"id":33,"name":34},{"id":36,"name":37},[],{"id":47,"name":48,"tactics":49,"countermeasures":52},"T1564.009","Resource Forking",[50,51],{"id":33,"name":34},{"id":36,"name":37},[53],{"id":54,"name":55,"tactic":56},"D3-FFV","File Format Verification",{"name":57},"Isolate",{"id":59,"name":60,"techniques":61},"CAPEC-77","Manipulating User-Controlled Variables",[],[],[],[],[],[],[],"2026-09-19T02:27:11.318Z","Received",{"cisa_kev":71,"cisa_ransomware":71,"cisa_vendor":9,"epss_severity":9,"epss_score":9,"severity":72,"severity_score":73,"severity_version":74,"severity_source":75,"severity_vector":76,"severity_status":69},false,"critical",9.1,"v3.1","cve.org","CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N",[78,83,87,91,95],{"url":79,"sources":80,"tags":82},"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/d6ad49ff-85eb-4d05-ba23-51d89695add3?source=cve",[75,81],"nvd",[],{"url":84,"sources":85,"tags":86},"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-recipe-maker/tags/10.8.1/includes/public/class-wprm-metadata.php#L553",[75,81],[],{"url":88,"sources":89,"tags":90},"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-recipe-maker/tags/10.8.1/includes/public/class-wprm-metadata.php#L1028",[75,81],[],{"url":92,"sources":93,"tags":94},"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-recipe-maker/tags/10.8.1/includes/public/class-wprm-metadata.php#L181",[75,81],[],{"url":96,"sources":97,"tags":98},"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3699793%40wp-recipe-maker&new=3699793%40wp-recipe-maker",[75,81],[],[],[],[102,107],{"source":75,"cvss_v2_0":9,"cvss_v3_0":9,"cvss_v3_1":103,"cvss_v4_0":9},{"baseScore":73,"baseSeverity":104,"vectorString":76,"impactScore":105,"exploitabilityScore":106},"CRITICAL",8.7,10,{"source":81,"cvss_v2_0":9,"cvss_v3_0":9,"cvss_v3_1":108,"cvss_v4_0":9},{"baseScore":73,"baseSeverity":104,"vectorString":76,"impactScore":105,"exploitabilityScore":106},[110],{"ecosystem":9,"name":111,"vendor":112,"product":113,"cpe_part":114,"purl_type":9,"purl_namespace":9,"purl_name":9,"source":9,"versions":115},"WP Recipe Maker","brechtvds","wp recipe maker","a",[116],{"version":117,"is_range":118,"range_type":75,"version_start":9,"version_start_type":9,"version_end":119,"version_end_type":120,"fixed_in":9},"\u003C= 10.8.1",true,"10.8.1","including"]
