{"schemaVersion":3,"id":"MGASA-2016-0093","aliases":[],"status":"published","duplicateOf":null,"title":null,"description":"Updated openssl packages fix security vulnerabilities\n\nUpdate openssl packages fix security vulnerabilities:\n\nYuval Yarom from the University of Adelaide and NICTA, Daniel Genkin from\nTechnion and Tel Aviv University, and Nadia Heninger from the University of\nPennsylvania discovered a side-channel attack which makes use of cache-bank\nconflicts on the Intel Sandy-Bridge microarchitecture. This could allow local\nattackers to recover RSA private keys (CVE-2016-0702).\n\nAdam Langley from Google discovered a double free bug when parsing malformed\nDSA private keys. This could allow remote attackers to cause a denial of\nservice or memory corruption in applications parsing DSA private keys\nreceived from untrusted sources (CVE-2016-0705).\n\nGuido Vranken discovered an integer overflow in the BN_hex2bn and BN_dec2bn\nfunctions that can lead to a NULL pointer dereference and heap corruption.\nThis could allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service or memory\ncorruption in applications processing hex or dec data received from untrusted\nsources (CVE-2016-0797).\n\nEmilia Käsper of the OpenSSL development team discovered a memory leak in the\nSRP database lookup code. To mitigate the memory leak, the seed handling in\nSRP_VBASE_get_by_user is now disabled even if the user has configured a seed.\nApplications are advised to migrate to the SRP_VBASE_get1_by_user function\n(CVE-2016-0798).\n\nGuido Vranken discovered an integer overflow in the BIO_*printf functions\nthat could lead to an OOB read when printing very long strings. Additionally\nthe internal doapr_outch function can attempt to write to an arbitrary memory\nlocation in the event of a memory allocation failure. These issues will only\noccur on platforms where sizeof(size_t) > sizeof(int) like many 64 bit\nsystems. This could allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service or\nmemory corruption in applications that pass large amounts of untrusted data\nto the BIO_*printf functions (CVE-2016-0799).\n\nNote that Mageia is not vulnerable to the DROWN issue, also known as\nCVE-2016-0800, in its default configuration, as SSLv2 was disabled by\ndefault in Mageia 5.  However, upstream mitigations for DROWN have also been\nincorporated into this update, protecting systems that may have enabled it.","dates":{"published":"2016-03-02T18:28:46.000Z","modified":"2026-04-16T06:23:04.769Z","reserved":null,"kevAdded":[],"kevDue":[]},"cvss":{"headline":{"score":null,"severity":"unknown","version":null,"versionLabel":null,"source":null,"vector":null,"computed":false,"selection":"none"},"metrics":[]},"epss":{"probability":null,"percentile":null,"severity":"unknown","asOf":null,"change":{"pp":null,"baselineDate":null,"baselineScore":null},"history":[],"last30":[]},"kev":{"state":"not-listed","entries":[],"listedCount":0,"totalCatalogs":3,"catalogs":[{"source":"cisa","label":"CISA","listed":false,"entry":null},{"source":"enisa","label":"ENISA","listed":false,"entry":null},{"source":"circl","label":"CIRCL","listed":false,"entry":null}]},"ransomware":{"state":"none-recorded","sources":[]},"exploits":[],"exploitCount":0,"weaknesses":[],"affected":[{"vendor":"mageia","product":"openssl","name":"openssl","label":"openssl","ecosystem":"Mageia","cpePart":null,"purl":"pkg:rpm/mageia/openssl","purlType":"rpm","versions":[{"text":"< 1.0.2g-1.1.mga5","noFixRecorded":false,"fixedIn":null}],"versionsText":"< 1.0.2g-1.1.mga5","eol":null,"hubHref":null}],"affectedCount":1,"eol":{"hasEol":false,"count":0},"references":[{"url":"https://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2016-0093.html","label":"advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2016-0093.html","hostname":"advisories.mageia.org","tags":["Advisory"]},{"url":"https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17859","label":"bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17859","hostname":"bugs.mageia.org","tags":["REPORT"]},{"url":"http://openssl.org/news/secadv/20160301.txt","label":"openssl.org/news/secadv/20160301.txt","hostname":"openssl.org","tags":["WEB"]},{"url":"https://www.debian.org/security/2016/dsa-3500","label":"www.debian.org/security/2016/dsa-3500","hostname":"www.debian.org","tags":["WEB"]}],"lineage":{"upstream":["CVE-2016-0702","CVE-2016-0705","CVE-2016-0797","CVE-2016-0798","CVE-2016-0799"],"downstream":[],"duplicates":[],"related":[]},"timeline":[{"kind":"published","date":"2016-03-02T18:28:46.000Z","label":"Published","detail":"Vulnerability first disclosed.","source":null},{"kind":"modified","date":"2026-04-16T06:23:04.769Z","label":"Last modified","detail":"Vulnerability information updated.","source":null}],"risk":{"score":0,"level":"minimal","profile":"Default","thresholds":{"critical":75,"high":50,"medium":25,"low":10}},"meta":{"dataAsOf":"2026-10-20T14:28:39.683Z","stale":false,"partial":false}}
