In versions 1.3.4 through 1.6.5, joserfc accepts oversized RFC7797 b64=false JWS payloads without applying JWSRegistry.max_payload_length, which can lead to resource exhaustion. The normal JWS compact and flattened JSON paths reject payloads above the configured payload-size limit with ExceededSizeError. The RFC7797 unencoded payload paths do not make the same check. A valid b64=false compact or flattened JSON JWS can therefore deserialize successfully with a payload larger than JWSRegistry.max_payload_length. Applications that accept lower-trust JWS values and rely on joserfc to reject oversized token content during verification have a moderate availability risk. This issue has been fixed in version 1.6.7.",null,[],[],[],[14],{"_key":15},"CVE-2026-48990",[],[],[],"2026-06-17T22:16:00Z","2026-06-24T11:01:41.863968561Z",{"cisa_kev":22,"cisa_ransomware":22,"cisa_vendor":9,"epss_severity":9,"epss_score":9,"severity":9,"severity_score":9,"severity_version":9,"severity_source":9,"severity_vector":9,"severity_status":9},false,[24,30,34],{"url":25,"sources":26,"tags":28},"https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2026-48990",[27],"osv_ubuntu",[29],"REPORT",{"url":31,"sources":32,"tags":33},"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-48990",[27],[29],{"url":35,"sources":36,"tags":37},"https://github.com/authlib/joserfc/security/advisories/GHSA-wphv-vfrh-23q5",[27],[29],[],[],[41],{"source":27,"cvss_v2_0":9,"cvss_v3_0":9,"cvss_v3_1":42,"cvss_v4_0":9},{"baseScore":43,"baseSeverity":9,"vectorString":44,"impactScore":45,"exploitabilityScore":46},5.3,"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L",2.3,10,[48],{"ecosystem":49,"name":50,"vendor":51,"product":50,"cpe_part":9,"purl_type":52,"purl_namespace":51,"purl_name":50,"source":9,"versions":53},"Ubuntu","joserfc","ubuntu","deb",[54,58],{"version":55,"is_range":56,"range_type":57,"version_start":9,"version_start_type":9,"version_end":9,"version_end_type":9,"fixed_in":9},"all",true,"ecosystem",{"version":55,"is_range":56,"range_type":57,"version_start":9,"version_start_type":9,"version_end":9,"version_end_type":9,"fixed_in":9}]
