CVE-2025-24965containerscrun+3
EPSS score0.58%
crun is an open source OCI Container Runtime fully written in C. In affected versions A malicious container image could trick the krun handler into escaping the root filesystem, allowing file creation or modification on the host. No special permissions are needed, only the ability for the current user to write to the target file. The problem is fixed in crun 1.20 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.CVE-2020-5291alpinebubblewrap+7EPSS score0.90%
Bubblewrap (bwrap) before version 0.4.1, if installed in setuid mode and the kernel supports unprivileged user namespaces, then the `bwrap --userns2` option can be used to make the setuid process keep running as root while being traceable. This can in turn be used to gain root permissions. Note that this only affects the combination of bubblewrap in setuid mode (which is typically used when unprivileged user namespaces are not supported) and the support of unprivileged user namespaces. Known to be affected are: * Debian testing/unstable, if unprivileged user namespaces enabled (not default) * Debian buster-backports, if unprivileged user namespaces enabled (not default) * Arch if using `linux-hardened`, if unprivileged user namespaces enabled (not default) * Centos 7 flatpak COPR, if unprivileged user namespaces enabled (not default) This has been fixed in the 0.4.1 release, and all affected users should update.CVE-2024-8418Crates.Ioaardvark-dns+7EPSS score0.77%
A flaw was found in Aardvark-dns, which is vulnerable to a Denial of Service attack due to the serial processing of TCP DNS queries. An attacker can exploit this flaw by keeping a TCP connection open indefinitely, causing the server to become unresponsive and resulting in other DNS queries timing out. This issue prevents legitimate users from accessing DNS services, thereby disrupting normal operations and causing service downtime.CVE-2026-52791containersfuse-overlayfs+14EPSS score0.14%
fuse-overlayfs is an implementation of overlayfs in FUSE for rootless containers. Prior to 1.17, the release-1.x C branch preserves SUID and SGID mode bits in main.c during open(O_TRUNC) and truncate handling on a copied-up file, allowing a low-privileged process to leave the upper-layer file with mode 4777. This issue is fixed in version 1.17.CVE-2026-41163alpinebubblewrap+5EPSS score0.36%
bubblewrap is a low-level unprivileged sandboxing tool. From version 0.11.0 to before version 0.11.2, if bubblewrap is installed in setuid mode then the user can use ptrace to attach to bubblewrap and control the unprivileged part of the sandbox setup phase. This allows the attacker to arbitrarily use the privileged operations, and in particular the "overlay mount" operation, allowing the creation of overlay mounts which is otherwise not allowed in the setuid version of bubblewrap. This issue has been patched in version 0.11.2.CVE-2026-47766containerscrun+5EPSS score0.20%
crun is an open source OCI Container Runtime fully written in C. Prior to version 1.28, crun's default device setup opens the container rootfs `/dev` directory without `O_NOFOLLOW`. If an OCI bundle contains `rootfs/dev` as a symlink and the bundle configuration does not mount `/dev`, crun follows that symlink and creates the default device nodes and stdio symlinks at the symlink target outside the container rootfs. In a local rootful crun replay, this created fixed device nodes and symlinks outside the rootfs before crun returned failure. A pre-existing file named `ptmx` in the target directory was also replaced by crun's forced `ptmx -> pts/ptmx` symlink. Version 1.28 fixes the issue.CVE-2026-44517chainguardfalco-no-driver+5EPSS score0.18%
Buildah is a tool that facilitates building OCI images. From 1.38.1 until 1.43.2 and 1.44.0, TempDirForURL in define/types.go does not securely confine Git repository subdirectories to the downloaded build context, and downloadToDirectory and stdinToDirectory can follow a Dockerfile symlink left by a partially extracted tar archive. A malicious server supplying a Git repository or tar archive can cause files outside the build context directory to be included in the context or copied into the build. This issue is fixed in versions 1.43.2 and 1.44.0.CVE-2026-30892containerscrun+9EPSS score0.17%
crun is an open source OCI Container Runtime fully written in C. In versions 1.19 through 1.26, the `crun exec` option `-u` (`--user`) is incorrectly parsed. The value `1` is interpreted as UID 0 and GID 0 when it should have been UID 1 and GID 0. The process thus runs with higher privileges than expected. Version 1.27 patches the issue.CVE-2026-88264containerscrun+2EPSS score0.12%
A flaw was found in crun. When the container configuration does not give /dev a dedicated mount, terminal setup can redirect /dev/console onto an attacker-controlled path, including via the read-only-rootfs bind-mount fallback. Affected versions are crun 1.29.1 and earlier. Default configurations that mount a fresh /dev are not exposed. No fixed release is available yet.CVE-2026-35406Crates.Ionetavark+7EPSS score0.46%
Aardvark-dns is an authoritative dns server for A/AAAA container records. From 1.16.0 to 1.17.0, a truncated TCP DNS query followed by a connection reset causes aardvark-dns to enter an unrecoverable infinite error loop at 100% CPU. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.17.1.CVE-2026-33414chainguardfalco-no-driver+13EPSS score0.68%
Podman is a tool for managing OCI containers and pods. Versions 4.8.0 through 5.8.1 contain a command injection vulnerability in the HyperV machine backend in pkg/machine/hyperv/stubber.go, where the VM image path is inserted into a PowerShell double-quoted string without sanitization, allowing $() subexpression injection. Because PowerShell evaluates subexpressions inside double-quoted strings before executing the outer command, an attacker who can control the VM image path through a crafted machine name or image directory can execute arbitrary PowerShell commands with the privileges of the Podman process. On typical Windows installations this means SYSTEM-level code execution, and only Windows is affected as the code is exclusive to the HyperV backend. This issue has been patched in version 5.8.2.
