PrioritiseCVE-2026-102941gomarkdown · markdown +24 moregomarkdown/markdown IsSafeURL panics on short URLsThe package github.com/gomarkdown/markdown is a Go library for parsing Markdown text and rendering as HTML. Prior to 0.0.0-20260724235538-61af6e1e6971, parser.IsSafeURL in parser/parser.go slices url[:nPath] before the len(url) >= nPath guard. A short destination causes a slice-bounds panic when the loop reaches a relative-path prefix for which len(url) < nPath and cap(url) < nPath. The one-byte destination / is an explicit non-panic counterexample because it matches the first valid path and returns before a longer prefix is sliced. Demonstrated panic cases include empty, ., and .. destinations under those conditions. The panic is reachable when markdown.ToHTML renders untrusted Markdown with html.Safelink enabled, including an empty link destination, and is also reachable by callers that pass a short attacker-controlled URL directly to the exported parser.IsSafeURL function. An uncaught panic can terminate the calling process and cause denial of service. Processing a malformed input containing a < character that is not followed by a > character anywhere in the remaining text with a SmartypantsRenderer will lead to Out of Bounds read or a panic. This vulnerability is fixed with commit 759bbc3e32073c3bc4e25969c132fc520eda2778.CVSS7.5HighEPSS0.35%PrioritiseCVE-2023-42821gomarkdown · markdown +3 moregithub.com/gomarkdown/markdown Out-of-bounds Read while parsing citationsThe package `github.com/gomarkdown/markdown` is a Go library for parsing Markdown text and rendering as HTML. Prior to pseudoversion `0.0.0-20230922105210-14b16010c2ee`, which corresponds with commit `14b16010c2ee7ff33a940a541d993bd043a88940`, parsing malformed markdown input with parser that uses parser.Mmark extension could result in out-of-bounds read vulnerability. To exploit the vulnerability, parser needs to have `parser.Mmark` extension set. The panic occurs inside the `citation.go` file on the line 69 when the parser tries to access the element past its length. This can result in a denial of service. Commit `14b16010c2ee7ff33a940a541d993bd043a88940`/pseudoversion `0.0.0-20230922105210-14b16010c2ee` contains a patch for this issue.CVSS7.5HighEPSS1.25%
