CVE-2026-109682rapid7metasploit framework
EPSS score0.17%
Metasploit Framework versions before 6.5.7 allow HTTP requests made through send_request_cgi! to follow redirects to a different host without restricting the redirect destination. A malicious HTTP server can cause the system running Metasploit to make requests to arbitrary HTTP services reachable from the operator's network, including internal services that are not otherwise accessible to the attacker.CVE-2026-109681rapid7metasploit frameworkEPSS score0.20%
The FTP client trusts the server's PASV response IP:port without validation against the control connection target. A rogue FTP server can specify any IP:port in the 227 Passive Mode response, causing the operator's machine to open a TCP connection to an arbitrary host.CVE-2026-87689rapid7metasploit frameworkEPSS score0.37%
The Metasploit Framework Web Service REST API (msf-ws) exposes the credential store through Msf::WebServices::CredentialServlet. Every mutating and read route in this servlet calls warden.authenticate! before processing a request, except the update_credential (PUT) and delete_credentials (DELETE) handlers for /api/v1/credentials, which omit the authentication call entirely. Because these handlers call directly into lib/msf/core/db_manager/cred.rb, which performs no authorization check of its own, any client able to reach the web service on its default 0.0.0.0:8080 listener can read, modify, or permanently delete every stored credential record — including passwords, hashes, and private keys stored for a shared team engagement — without presenting any authentication. All published versions of Metasploit Framework through 6.5.4 are affected. The issue is fixed in 6.5.5 by adding warden.authenticate! as the first statement in both handlers, matching the pattern used by every other route in the API.CVE-2026-87690rapid7metasploit frameworkEPSS score0.41%
The Metasploit Framework post module post/apple_ios/gather/ios_image_gather is affected by a relative path traversal vulnerability (CWE-22). The module interpolates file names taken from a Meterpreter directory listing — data fully controlled by a hostile or tampered iOS device — directly into the local destination path passed to client.fs.file.download_file(), with no sanitization. The underlying stdapi sink (lib/rex/post/meterpreter/extensions/stdapi/fs/file.rb) writes to whatever path is supplied, so a listing entry such as ../../msfconsole.rc escapes the intended ~/.msf4/loot/<random> directory and overwrites ~/.msf4/msfconsole.rc, a resource file that every msfconsole invocation automatically executes at startup (lib/msf/ui/console/driver.rb:196). An attacker-controlled device that lures an operator into running this gather module achieves an arbitrary file write as the operator; because the written msfconsole.rc can load a second written file (a Ruby plugin whose top-level code runs on require), this converts into persistent code execution and an interactive shell as the operator (frequently root) on the pentester's workstation at the next console launch. The same traversal was previously fixed upstream in the recursive downloader (stdapi/fs/dir.rb scrubs separators); this module omitted the equivalent scrub. The fix applies the same separator scrub (or File.basename) to listing entries before building the local path.CVE-2020-7377rapid7metasploit+1EPSS score1.07%
The Metasploit Framework module "auxiliary/admin/http/telpho10_credential_dump" module is affected by a relative path traversal vulnerability in the untar method which can be exploited to write arbitrary files to arbitrary locations on the host file system when the module is run on a malicious HTTP server.CVE-2020-7385RubyGemsmetasploit-framework+2EPSS score1.75%
By launching the drb_remote_codeexec exploit, a Metasploit Framework user will inadvertently expose Metasploit to the same deserialization issue that is exploited by that module, due to the reliance on the vulnerable Distributed Ruby class functions. Since Metasploit Framework typically runs with elevated privileges, this can lead to a system compromise on the Metasploit workstation. Note that an attacker would have to lie in wait and entice the Metasploit user to run the affected module against a malicious endpoint in a "hack-back" type of attack. Metasploit is only vulnerable when the drb_remote_codeexec module is running. In most cases, this cannot happen automatically.CVE-2020-7350rapid7metasploit+1EPSS score5.00%
Rapid7 Metasploit Framework versions before 5.0.85 suffers from an instance of CWE-78: OS Command Injection, wherein the libnotify plugin accepts untrusted user-supplied data via a remote computer's hostname or service name. An attacker can create a specially-crafted hostname or service name to be imported by Metasploit from a variety of sources and trigger a command injection on the operator's terminal. Note, only the Metasploit Framework and products that expose the plugin system is susceptible to this issue -- notably, this does not include Rapid7 Metasploit Pro. Also note, this vulnerability cannot be triggered through a normal scan operation -- the attacker would have to supply a file that is processed with the db_import command.CVE-2020-7376rapid7metasploit+1EPSS score1.12%
The Metasploit Framework module "post/osx/gather/enum_osx module" is affected by a relative path traversal vulnerability in the get_keychains method which can be exploited to write arbitrary files to arbitrary locations on the host filesystem when the module is run on a malicious host.CVE-2019-5624rapid7metasploit+1EPSS score2.76%
Rapid7 Metasploit Framework suffers from an instance of CWE-22, Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') in the Zip import function of Metasploit. Exploiting this vulnerability can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in Metasploit at the privilege level of the user running Metasploit. This issue affects: Rapid7 Metasploit Framework version 4.14.0 and prior versions.CVE-2019-5645rapid7metasploit+1EPSS score41.69%
By sending a specially crafted HTTP GET request to a listening Rapid7 Metasploit HTTP handler, an attacker can register an arbitrary regular expression. When evaluated, this malicious handler can either prevent new HTTP handler sessions from being established, or cause a resource exhaustion on the Metasploit server.
