Description
All versions prior to 9.1.4 of Advantech WebAccess/SCADA are vulnerable to use of untrusted pointers. The RPC arguments the client sent could contain raw memory pointers for the server to use as-is. This could allow an attacker to gain access to the remote file system and the ability to execute commands and overwrite files.

Weaknesses
CWE · root cause- CWE-822Untrusted Pointer DereferenceThe product obtains a value from an untrusted source, converts this value to a pointer, and dereferences the resulting pointer.
- CWE-119Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory BufferThe product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it reads from or writes to a memory location outside the buffer's intended boundary. This may result in read or write operations on unexpected memory locations that could be linked to other variables, data structures, or internal program data.
