Description
A vulnerability was found in PX4 PX4-Autopilot up to 1.16.0. Affected by this issue is the function MavlinkLogHandler::state_listing/MavlinkLogHandler::log_entry_from_id of the file src/modules/mavlink/mavlink_log_handler.cpp. The manipulation results in stack-based buffer overflow. The attack is only possible with local access. The patch is identified as 338595edd1d235efd885fd5e9f45e7f9dcf4013d. It is best practice to apply a patch to resolve this issue.

Weaknesses
CWE · root cause- CWE-119Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory BufferThe product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it reads from or writes to a memory location outside the buffer's intended boundary. This may result in read or write operations on unexpected memory locations that could be linked to other variables, data structures, or internal program data.
- CWE-121Stack-based Buffer OverflowA stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function).
- CWE-787Out-of-bounds WriteThe product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer.
